Congleton Celebrates Christmas Switch-On

Congleton’s Christmas team wish to offer a massive thank you to all the volunteers, performers, contractors, lantern-makers, stall holders, businesses and members of the public that flocked into the town centre on Friday 26 November to support the return of Congleton’s Christmas Lights Switch-On. Thousands turned out to enjoy the atmosphere, entertainment, lantern parade, Santa, a real life Unicorn and festive refreshments whilst browsing the shops and stalls ahead of the switch on at 6.30pm. Organisers from Congleton Town Council and Congleton Community Projects were delighted with the support from the Congleton community. Despite a toned down event for this year to allow more space for people to enjoy the festivities safely, visitors enjoyed an evening full of fun and Christmas cheer. A spokesperson for the Town Council said: “There was a big cheer from the crowds as the lights were turned on by Santa and his helpers: Poppy, Cooper and Blayke Bentley. It was wonderful to see the town twinkling and so many smiling faces! The Town Hall facade lit up the High Street with a stunning projection provided by Lightech. Special thanks to Reeds Rains for their office space to be able to make this possible.” The display throughout the Town Centre will be on daily from 3.30pm-midnight, until early January 2022.
