High Street Awards

Congleton High Street Awards

Congleton Town Council is proud to celebrate the businesses that form the heart of our community through the High Street Awards scheme. These awards recognise long-standing businesses—whether independent or national—that have shown ongoing commitment to serving the people of Congleton from the town centre or our local shopping parades. A thriving high street depends on a healthy mix of independents and chain stores alike, and this scheme honours all those who contribute to the vibrant and diverse retail landscape of Congleton.

About the Scheme

The High Street Awards were introduced by former Town Mayor, Cllr Kay Wesley (2024-2025) to honour businesses that have stayed rooted in Congleton despite the increasing challenges of online and out-of-town shopping. By offering a personal, walk-in service these businesses contribute to a vibrant and thriving town centre.

Whether it’s a family-run retailer that has served generations, or a specialist shop with decades of expertise, these businesses deserve recognition for their resilience, customer service, and dedication to Congleton.

Why It Matters

  • Supports the local economy: Spending locally helps keep money circulating within our town and supports jobs.
  • Builds community: Local shops foster relationships and a sense of belonging.
  • Preserves character: Independent businesses give Congleton its unique charm and identity.
  • Promotes sustainability: Shopping locally reduces carbon footprints and supports sustainable practices.
