A Civic Service to welcome Congleton’s latest Mayor, Cllr Denis Murphy, will take place on Sunday 12 September 2021 at 3pm. Dignitaries and guests will assemble at the rear of the Town Hall at 2.30pm and leave promptly at 2.45pm. The service will be held at St.Peter’s Church, Chapel Street, commencing at 3.00pm and will be conducted by Mayor’s Chaplain, Father William Kilkenny.

Cllr Denis Murphy was previously Mayor in 2008-2009 and 2014-2015. Mrs Joan Myatt will be his Consort and Tom Gilman, Explorer Scout with Dane Valley Scout Group his Mayor’s Cadet. The Mayor will raise funds for various local charities but will be focusing on The Christie Cancer Unit at Macclesfield Hospital and local youth cadet services.
