Summer Play Days!

Congleton Town Council is thrilled to kick off the 2025 summer holidays with a series of four fun-filled Play Days in the town centre, held in collaboration with Congleton Community Projects. The events will take place every Tuesday from 29 July to 19 August, between 10.30am and 2.30pm.

Each week will offer a different themed experience—from nature exploration and sports games to music, arts, and a grand community celebration. The events are completely free and designed for young children and families to enjoy without leaving town.

Rachel McCarthy, Town Centre and Events Officer at Congleton Town Council, said: “We’re so excited to bring back these themed play days right to the heart of Congleton. They’re designed to get kids active, creative, and engaged—without any cost to families. The activities are varied and inclusive, and there’s no need to book—just turn up and join the fun!”

A free book swap will be available at all events—bring a book, take a book, and keep young readers inspired all summer long.

29 July – Nature Day
Children can enjoy nature-themed junk modelling with ArtSpace, get creative with chalk pavement art, and make their own nature crafts. Congleton Museum will also be on hand with hands-on heritage activities. The event will include fun, disability-themed activities for children, featuring colouring sheets as part of a free competition to win a signed children’s book that encourages kindness and acceptance of others. Every child who takes part will also receive a bookmark.

5 August – Sports Day
Get active with mini golf, darts, giant outdoor games, and a sports-themed craft station. ArtSpace will also return with more junk modelling.

12 August – Music & Arts Day
A celebration of creativity featuring interactive drumming workshops, games run by Everybody Leisure, and engaging storytelling sessions from Congleton Library.

19 August – Big Play Day
This grand finale includes games and challenges with Everybody Leisure, lively dance workshops, circus skills fun, creative arts and crafts stalls, and storytelling by Congleton Library.

All events will be held in the pedestrianised area of Congleton town centre and are weather dependent. No booking is required—just come along and join in the fun. For weekly updates and full activity details, visit: www.congleton-tc.gov.uk or follow Congleton Town Council on Facebook.
