Residents turn out for Congleton’s Annual Town Meeting

Congleton residents turned out to participate in this years Annual Town Meeting in Congleton Town Hall on Tuesday 17 May 2022.

Those attending were able to hear short presentations and ask questions to people leading projects on the Community Governance Boundary Review, Household Waste Recycling, Congleton Neighbourhood Plan and Support for Ukraine.

The presentations were followed by 30 minutes of open question time Chaired by Congleton’s new town Mayor, Cllr Margaret Gartside. Residents had the opportunity to have their voices heard on a wide range of subjects including; Bromley Farm Community Centre, public toilets, cycling in the pedestrian area, War Memorial Minor Injuries Unit, Howey Hill/Moody Street parking obstructions and Congleton Market.

Chief Officer David McGifford said: “I would like to thank everyone who took the time to attend the annual meeting. There was a good exchange of information and questions, which the council will endeavour to consider. There is a great deal of work that goes on behind the scenes to ensure the democratic meeting runs smoothly. Thank you to everyone involved.
