Congleton hopes the weather remains hot for the start of the Paddling Pool Season!
Congleton’s Paddling Pool will open for the summer season on Saturday 24 May – and the Town Council is hoping that the hot weather experienced this weekend will last and start to warm the water!
For the past few years the Town Council has opened the Paddling Pool on the Saturday before the late May Bank Holiday in time for the Whitsun half-term school holidays. The pool will then remain open every dry day from 10am – 6pm until at least Sunday 14th September.
The Paddling Pool is run by Congleton Town Council. It is a free facility for children aged 11 and under and can be found in Park Road, next to Daneside Theatre.
Congleton Town Mayor, Cllr Denis Murphy said: “Congleton Paddling Pool is a very special place. There are only a few councils in the UK that have kept their paddling pools open – and we are very proud to be one of them! We regularly hear stories from grandparents and parents who have fond memories of coming to the pool as children!”
Over the past few years Congleton Town Council has invested significantly in the paddling pool, resurfacing the pool and the surrounding paths, adding a toilet block and a drinking water fountain.
The Town Council has employed a team of summer Paddling Pool Attendants, and one will always be present when the pool is open. The attendants wear light blue polo shirts, have keys to the toilets and first aid box and are the first point of contact for any queries regarding the pool. All children using the Paddling Pool must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
For safety reasons users are asked not to take food and drink into the water and to make sure that all litter is put in the bins.
