Congleton’s Paddling Pool will open its gates for the summer season on Saturday 2 June and will remain open every sunny day from 10am – 6pm until at least Sunday 9th September.
The Paddling Pool is run by Congleton Town Council. It is a free facility for children aged 11 and under and can be found in Park Road, next to Daneside Theatre.
Councillor Sally Ann Holland, Congleton Town Mayor said: “We are very proud of our Paddling Pool. It continues to attract people from all areas of Congleton and beyond and is a very special place for young children. There are only a few councils across the country that have kept their paddling pools open – and we are very pleased to be one of them! Generations of children have enjoyed Congleton Paddling Pool – we regularly hear stories from grandparents and parents who have fond memories of coming to the pool as children!”
Over the past few years Congleton Town Council has invested significantly in the paddling pool, resurfacing the pool and the surrounding paths, adding a toilet block and a drinking water fountain.
The Town Council has employed a team of summer Paddling Pool Attendants, and one will always be present when the pool is open. The attendants wear light blue polo shirts, have keys to the toilets and first aid box and are the first point of contact for any queries regarding the pool. All children using the Paddling Pool must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
For safety reasons users are asked not to take food and drink into the water and to make sure that all litter is put in the bins. Bikes, dogs, glass and alcohol are not allowed at the pool. Parents are asked to respect local residents and park in the Town Centre or at the Park if driving to the pool. On-Street parking on much of Park Road is now residential only.
