North West In Bloom IYN Awards 2019

Back in July a North West In Bloom judge, Mr Alan Hulme came to Congleton to assess our eight It’s Your Neighbourhood groups.  After a long wait for the results, representatives from these groups recently attended the North West In Bloom awards ceremony at Southport.  We are delighted to report a fantastic set of awards.

Both Buglawton in Bloom and Bromley Farm In Bloom retained their Level 4 – Thriving (equivalent to Silver Gilt).  The remaining six IYNs each received a Level 5 – Outstanding award, equivalent to GOLD.

Astbury Mere Care Home, which had previously entered in the Residential home competition winning three consecutive gold medals, received their first IYN award at Level 5.  Ms Jenny Clarke said, “We are delighted to stay at the top level and will show our residents this certificate when we get back.”

Congleton Bath House & Physic Garden and Friends of Congleton Park have now been awarded Level 5 for four consecutive years.

Heath View Extra Care and Hilary Avenue Allotments are both in their sixth year as IYNs and have received Level 4 then five Level 5s, a fantastic achievement.  Mrs Wendy Townley, Extra Care Manager at Heath View said, “Our residents really enjoyed their day out at the Awards in Southport.  They were all over the moon with their fifth OUTSTANDING award.”

In only their second year The Old Saw Mill IYN group was absolutely thrilled to move up from Level 3 in 2018 to Level 5 this year.

Congleton In Bloom will be meeting with all the IYN groups in the spring to discuss projects and share knowledge and experience with any new IYN groups that are formed.
