Ice Rink

Christmas Skating is coming to Congleton!

Local people can look forward to a superb skating rink in Congleton this December thanks to the sterling efforts of the fund raising team headed up by Cathy Morris of Clarity’s Hairdressing. Now the team is looking for support from the public for its next two fundraising events – a Fancy Frocks & Fish and Chip evening at the Town Hall on 14th September and a Hair and Fashion Show on the 9th November.

In February this year the Town Hall played host to two sell out hair and fashion shows organised by six hair salons, Clarity’s, Crown, VIP, Salon 29, Vanity Corner and Cloud Nine with the support of Swan Brides, Two Tempting Hat Hire and Cheshire Lady, all of whom took part in a stunning show choreographed and produced by Liz Cardall.

The shows were the launch platform to raise funds for the hire of a superb Skating Rink for the town and with over £5000 raised, the team are half way to providing a star attraction for local people, schools, businesses and visitors this Christmas.

The state of the art rink will be a 13 metre square, providing a great skating experience and will be sited at the Bulls Head car park off Mill Street Congleton from 13th to 22nd December. People can being their own ice-skates or have free hire as part of the skating ticket.

Cathy Morris, fundraiser said: “Our team took time to visit the suppliers of the ice rink recently and we were very impressed with the size and quality of the facility.” She added “by this December we will have raised over £10,000 which will pay in full for the ice rink hire which will be professionally staged and managed by the suppliers. Every person who pays to enjoy time skating will be raising even more funds, with every penny adding to the fund for more events in Congleton.” Jackie MacArthur, Town Centre manager said “Everyone involved has volunteered their time for free and our aim is to add even greater reasons to enjoy shopping and leisure time in our town which has established a reputation for doing events really well.

The hair and fashion shows were superbly put together by Liz Cardall, the salons and their models who worked week after week with rehearsals to present two stunning shows. The ice rink fund raising team believe they can top this with the next hair and fashion show, which has a Christmas theme and some special surprise guests!”
The fund raising team welcome support from all of the community and they are finding local businesses are offering their support to ensure we reach our targets and feature the best ice skating rink ever in the area.
