Hillfields meeting postponed

The planned public meeting due to be held in the Town Hall tonight ( Tuesday 18th April) has been postponed and will be rearranged for a later date in May when the newly elected councillors will be able to join in the conversations around what, if anything, could be done to improve the open green space at Hillfields.

The intention of tonight’s meeting was to have an open discussion with residents to understand what residents would like to see on this site, starting from a blank sheet. We know that councillors and potential councillors from all groups are keen to get involved in the discussions and they believe it would be more productive to hold a meeting where residents,  officers and the newly elected councillors could all have an open discussion. We are only two weeks away from the elections.

If you drive past the Town Hall this evening you will notice the gates are open. This is because Bingo is held in the Town Hall every Tuesday. The meeting will not be taking place.

Please be assured that nothing will be happening on the site during this delay and the initial ideas that were presented are not being progressed. As soon as a new date is agreed, residents will be invited to the meeting. Apologies for the short notice on the postponement, but hopefully this will lead to a more worthwhile and productive meeting in May. In the meantime if individuals had prepared ideas for tonight’s meeting, please forward email them to: ruth.burgess@congleton-tc.gov.uk

We look forward to working with you on the future of Hillfields and are pleased that there are so many residents that are keen to protect and enhance our green spaces in Congleton.
