Cheshire East Council has started its programme of gully clearing in Congleton. The success of this approach depends on residents not parking in the designated streets during the scheduled works. Advance warning signs will be placed along the streets affected and residents will receive postcards 2 days before informing them that work is scheduled to begin, this will allow them to make alternative parking arrangements on that day. The signs will be removed once all of the work is complete.
The Clear and Cleanse programme maintains narrow streets in town centres that can be difficult to access. Parked cars and vehicles must be moved from these streets for essential road gully emptying and mechanical sweeping to take place. This stops weeds from growing and road gullies becoming full and blocked.
This programme is in addition to the gulley emptying programme that will take place early in 2017.
