Free Event to Help Parents !
Congleton parents are being invited to a free event designed to help them support their children through the challenges of adolescence in today’s digital age. Hosted by Congleton Town Council’s White Ribbon Group, in partnership with Cheshire Police and Visyon, the evening will provide expert advice and real-life perspectives on issues such as social media, online safety, respectful relationships, and mental health.
Growing Up Wired: Supporting your child through adolescence in a complex world takes place on Tuesday 30 September 6–8pm at Congleton Town Hall.
Speakers include PC Andy Cornall from Cheshire Police, who will deliver practical guidance on keeping young people safe online. Visyon who will run a workshop on emotional wellbeing, and White Ribbon Ambassadors will highlight how parents can promote respect and challenge harmful behaviours. Importantly, young people themselves will share their experiences of online pressures, peer influence, and challenges such as bullying and misogyny.
Cllr Kay Wesley, Chair of the Community Committee and White Ribbon Champion, said: “We know how difficult it can be for parents to deal with the pressures young people face today, especially with the influence of social media, at an age when friends and peer groups are often more influential than parents.
“This event is about bringing together professionals, young people, and the community to equip adults with the knowledge, confidence, and tools they need to support their children through adolescence.”
The event is free to attend, but places must be reserved in advance on Eventbrite. Scan the QR code on the poster or visit: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/growing-up-wired-supporting-your-child-through-adolescence-tickets-1570869666459
