The Rotary Christmas Concert

Rotary-Congleton’s Annual Christmas Concert gets the traditional Christmas season off to a flying start. The Christmas spirit is infectious and the concert features returning regulars, Silk Brass and the accomplished choristers from the Eaton Bank Encore Choir, performing a programme of Christmas favourites with music from the movies, carols and more than a few seasonal singalongs.

This year, with Ukraine on everyone’s mind, particularly at Christmastime, there’s an additional treat in store. When Taisiaa Hovlokova, a final-year saxophonist at Kyiv Academy came to Marton as a refugee, her patrons at CAUSN secured her a place to continue her studies at the Royal Northern College of Music. During her stay, Tasiaa has performed for Rotary and also at a charity concert at Clonter Opera to raise money for Ukraine.

Playing her saxophone, Taisiia Holovko, accompanied by her Ukrainian violinist friend Hannah Shamihova will treat Congleton to an interlude of Ukrainian seasonal favourites.
