Daneside Theatre Film Night: Four Letters of Love (12a)
Nicholas (O’Shea) and Isabel (Skelly) seem destined for one another, yet the path to love is rarely simple. While fate continually draws them closer, family pressures, deep emotions, and questions of faith threaten to keep them apart.
Nicholas’ world changes overnight when his father, William (Brosnan), suddenly returns home with a startling revelation. Claiming he has received a divine calling, William abandons his career to pursue life as a painter by the sea, leaving his stunned wife and son behind to cope with the upheaval.
Just across the water, Isabel grows up in a lively household filled with art, music, and poetry. But when a devastating accident befalls her brother, the family’s joy is silenced. In their grief, her parents (Bonham Carter, Byrne) decide to send Isabel to a convent school on the mainland, severing her from the world she has known.
Separated by circumstance, Nicholas and Isabel endure parallel journeys of longing, loss, and youthful missteps. Yet fate refuses to let them drift apart forever. When their paths finally cross, the moment feels nothing short of miraculous.
