Grand Anniversary Concert
A programme of majestic music will celebrate the anniversary of the opening of Congleton Town Hall in July 1866. The building was designed by E W Godwin, a charismatic and influential figure in English architecture and design. It was built in the fashionable Victorian Gothic style, to impress the public and to reflect Congleton’s civic status. The main hall, a dramatic two-storey space with exposed hammer beams and a stone minstrels’ gallery, is the choir’s principal venue in the town. The performance will be enhanced by distinguished organist Michael Wynne, making his second guest appearance with the society.
