Cheshire Police Think Car

Think twice about Drinking and Driving

Shoppers in Congleton will receive a sobering message about not drinking and driving this Saturday (18 January) when Cheshire Police bring the ‘THINK CAR’ to town. An average of 173 people between the ages of 17-25 are killed or seriously injured in Cheshire each year, and drink driving is on the rise in the younger generation. The Think Car is the wreckage of a car in which a 21 year old man lost his life after losing control of the car shortly before 11pm on a rural A Road in Cheshire. It was estimated that he was travelling at 43mph (in a 60 mph area) and on a post mortem showed he was 1 ½ times over the legal limit of alcohol in his system. When the car has been shown in other towns people have been shocked at the scale of the damage and the reality of what can happen.

The vehicle will be located opposite B&M Bargains on the pedestrian area and the Police will be in attendance to answer any questions
