Best results ever for Congleton in Bloom

 – as team urges supporters to keep up the good work!

Congleton has received its best ever results in North West in Bloom, winning Best Large Town in the North West for the third time in four years as well as collecting nine ‘It’s your Neighbourhoods’  three Business awards and the Pride of Cheshire East award. It was also a gold medallist at Britain in Bloom.

But despite the fantastic results, Congleton is not eligible to represent the North West in the national Britain in Bloom finals in 2017, as the town competed in 2016.

Now the pressure is on to keep up Congleton’s gold standard, and to win Best Large Town once again in 2017 so that the town can be in Britain in Bloom 2018. At a packed In Bloom celebration evening in the Town Hall on Tuesday 1 November, attended by many of the groups and organisations that supported this year’s Congleton in Bloom campaign, the feeling was that Congleton can do it again!

Town Mayor, and Chairman of the Congleton in Bloom group, Cllr David Brown said: “Congleton has really bloomed this year. We received gold at Britain in Bloom, Gold at North West in Bloom, the three businesses that entered were all judged as outstanding and the nine neighbourhoods were all good with five at the very top level.  This is a massive achievement and has involved a huge amount of hard work and dedication from lots of people. These awards and accolades belong to everyone that contributed – it really was a town-wide effort.”

Almost 100 people attended the In Bloom evening representing many of the 43 Congleton groups and organisations credited with helping the Congleton in Bloom efforts. There was also praise for the winners of the Best Front Garden competition, winners of Best Children’s Garden, the seven businesses that helped sponsor the In Bloom activities, the premises that had purchased the 270 hanging baskets that enhanced this year’s entry and Congleton Town Council and Congleton Partnership for leading on many of the activities.
