‘Beating the Bounds’

As part of the town’s 750th Celebrations, we are looking for 750 people – one person for every year since Congleton gained its Charter in 1272 to walk the towns settlement boundary! Taking place on Sunday 10 April 2022.

There is a choice of a 9.9 mile circular walk or a 4.5 mile accessible route. Both walks will start at 10am  from Moss Lane near its entrance with Manchester Road with horses and riders in medieval dress, the town mayor and costumed characters. Walkers will set off at 10 minute intervals. Car parking available at Eaton Bank Academy.

There will be checkpoints and marshals along the route and refreshments and facilities available at Congleton High School who are raising funds for the Georgia Leigh Ogden Foundation.

It is £1 to enter with all funds raised being donated to the Town Mayor’s local charities. Walkers will receive a wristband with their start time. Further details will be provided upon registration.
