Beary good time was had by all!

If you went down to Congleton Leisure Centre on Tuesday 13th June you were in for a big surprise as over 250 toddlers and their teddy bears gathered for the annual Teddy Bears Picnic.

A beary good time was had by all! The afternoons activities started with the toddlers welcoming the Congleton Bear family to the picnic: Carla and Kayla the little bears and Carny Bear- the bears spent the afternoon high-fiving and having pictures with many. Throughout the two hours of fun, the children enjoyed singing and dancing with Tiddly Boppers, Tumble Tots and Congleton Library- the favourite activity seemed to be the colourful parachute game.

Also at the picnic were Congleton Children’s Centre with their Stay and Play Messy Play area and Ruby’s Fund with their painting and refreshments stall. There was music throughout the event, making for a lively atmosphere.

Congleton’s Deputy Mayor Cllr Suzie Akers Smith who attended the event said “What a great turn out for the annual teddy bears picnic. Many people including myself brought our teddy bears down and had an enjoyable afternoon. My thanks go to Congleton Town Council for organising the event and the volunteers that gave their time to make sure everything was ready for the toddlers and their teddy bears to have fun at the picnic. This year the picnic coincided with the national scheme “The Great Get Together” and that it was, it was a Great Toddler Get Together. I look forward to the Teddy Bears Picnics in years to come!”

Congleton Town Council would like to thank the following for their contributions for the day: Congleton Leisure Centre for the use of the Sports Hall for the afternoon and to all the entertainment and stalls that helped to make the picnic a success: Congleton Children’s Centre, Congleton Library, Tiddly Boppers, Tumble Tots and Ruby’s Fund. A massive thankyou to the volunteers on the day who helped to set up, steward and clear away the event, also to Carla and Kayla Nancollas and Jackie MacArthur for making up the fabulous bear family loved by many!

Lastly thankyou to all the teddy bears and their pre-school owners who came along to the picnic and supported the event.
