Fundraising for Ice Rink

Fund raising for an ice-rink in Congleton in the run up to Christmas 2013 got off to a fabulous start thanks to the efforts of six local hair salons and other local businesses.

The two day ‘Retrospective’ Hair and Fashion show in Congleton Town Hall raised around £5,000 – with packed audiences both nights enjoying the spectacular show covering hair through the 80s, 90s and 00s.

The idea for the ice-rink and fashion show came from Cathy Morris, owner of Clarity’s hair salon, who wanted to do something special to celebrate 25 years of business in the town.  Cathy enlisted the help of other salons in town – including Salon 29, Cloud 9, VIP in Buglawton, Halo, and Vanity Corner as well as Swan Bridal, Cheshire Lady and The Address.

Cathy said: “It was a brilliant couple of nights – the models were all amazing and everyone had a great time. There was a great atmosphere – and I’m very pleased that we have raised over £5,000 towards bringing the ice-rink into town. This is a great example of what we can achieve in Congleton when we work together. A huge thank you to everyone involved.”

The plan is to have a temporary ice-rink in the Bulls Head car park for two weeks in the lead-up to Christmas.
