Christmas Window Dressing 2018

Christmas Window Dressing Competition 2018- Winners Announced!

Congleton has some beautiful and creative windows that are well worth coming to see, say the judges of this year’s Congleton Christmas window dressing competition.

Forty Congleton shops and businesses pulled out all the stops for this year’s window dressing competition, decorating their windows to a high standard. The windows were judged based on overall impact, creativity of the scene and the amount of effort each business has put into their windows, with an additional point of displaying a bear. The three judges, scored the windows independently out of a total of 21, these totals were then combined to provide the final score.

First place was awarded to Serenity Designs in the pedestrian area, the judges were impressed with their dazzling display, the shop was awarded full marks for impact and was especially commended on their Christmas sparkle. Second place went to Timothy Brown Estate Agents on West Street for the attention to detail of their handmade miniature Congleton buildings in their window. Third place has been jointly awarded to Town Bathrooms in the High Street for its creativity and impact and also to Age UK Cheshire East in the pedestrian area, again for its overall impact of their white snowy Christmas theme. A special mention also goes to Congleton Veterinary Centre at West Heath Shopping Centre, who came a very close fourth with their hand-made miniature Santa’s Grotto, complete with a fully decorated tree with working lights, Santa with his presents and tiled roof sprayed with snow.

Jackie MacAthur, Congleton Town Council’s Town Centre and Marketing Manager said: “I’d like to thank all the shops and businesses that entered the competition or just decorated their windows anyway! It really helps to give Congleton a special festival feel. It’s clear that many people had worked incredibly hard to create a really attractive window which can be enjoyed by all. If anyone has not been into Congleton for a while it is well worth coming in to see the windows and what our local businesses have to offer this Christmas.”

In addition to the top five, the judges awarded highly commended to the following: Bare Health, Butters John Bee, Congleton Hearing Centre, Delia Metcalfe, Francescos, Gather of Cheshire, Grace Brown Interiors, H J Lea Oakes, House to Home, Innovations, Mr Simms Sweet Shoppe, Shakeeze and Wild and Wild. A further 22 shops were awarded commended.
