Welcome to Cheshire’s Historic Market Town of Congleton

This site has been provided by Congleton Town Council to inform residents and visitors about events, news, businesses, community groups and activities happening in the town as well as to provide information on the workings of the Town Council and its committees.

Congleton is a market town with a population of around 26,900 located in south east Cheshire. The town is about half way between Manchester and Stoke and is part of the beautiful Cheshire Peak District. Congleton is well known for its festivals, flowers, ribbons, beers and bears! It has over 150 local organisations and groups, a bustling shopping centre, its own theatre, fantastic park and paddling pool. The town won North West in Bloom in 2015 and represented the North West in Britain in Bloom in 2016, gaining GOLD standard. The town will be competing in the 2017 North West in Bloom Competition.

A council for the people

Congleton Town Council was created in 1980 to represent the people of Congleton town. 20 Councillors, representing two wards, are elected every four years (next election May 2019) to serve on the Council.

The Perfect Venue for You

If you are organising an event – take a look at what Congleton Town Hall can offer. We are confident that we will have a room to suit you, and that you will be delighted with the grandeur of the rooms and our helpful staff and events team. The Grand Hall itself is big enough to hold concerts, dances, private parties, exercise classes and exhibitions. The Bridestones Suite is a smaller more intimate space ideal for smaller gatherings of up to 80 such as wedding ceremonies and christenings.
