Volunteers wanted for the Queen’s Party in the Park

Hundreds of people are expected to flock to Congleton Park on Thursday 2 June for an afternoon of music and games to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Organisers of the event, Congleton Town Council are urging more people to come forward to help them deliver a fantastic free event bringing the whole community together to celebrate the Queen’s historic milestone.

Rachel McCarthy, Congleton Town Council’s Town Centre and Events Officer said: “It’s been a little while since we hosted such a large event and unfortunately some of our usual volunteers are away or have not returned to volunteering after Covid. We have a fab team but could do with a few more to fill a variety of jobs on the day including helping with the set up, making sure everything runs smoothly and with the clean-up afterwards. People can give as much or as little of their time as they can.”

Linda Ward, one of the town council’s regular volunteers was one of the first to sign up to help on the day. Linda said: “I’ve lost count how many events I’ve volunteered at over the years, it really does give a sense of pride and achievement being part of such a fantastic team. It makes it all worthwhile, seeing visitors enjoying the entertainment and the great sense of community spirit which Congleton is renowned for.”

The celebration is from 1pm-5.30pm with the Encores playing 50s and 60s music to start and finishing with Audley Brass Band playing rousing tunes! The Signal 1 Radio Roadshow will entertain the crowds and party goers can enjoy a Punch and Judy show, RSPCA Dog Show, games and crafts and a chance to buy food and drink from local stallholders.
