Ukrainian Support Meeting

Ukrainian visitors are starting to arrive in Congleton and the surrounding parishes under the Homes for Ukraine scheme. A meeting is planned for anybody hosting, considering hosting, or wishing to offer general support to Ukrainian guests staying in Congleton and neighbouring areas. The meeting will be held at Congleton Town Hall on Friday 29 April from 7pm-8.30pm.

Jackie MacArthur, Communities and Marketing Manager for the Town Council said: “Attendees will be able to connect with other hosts, meet representatives from support groups and find out more or ask questions about anything connected with supporting Ukrainians in the area. There is no need to book, just turn up.

The role of Congleton Town Council and the Parish Councils is to support the host families and their guests to make them feel welcome and supported in our community. If residents, groups or businesses are able to help with providing friendship, goods, work or lifts for Ukrainians please register your interest at info@congleton-tc.gov.uk ref Ukraine and we will be in contact with you.”

Cheshire East Council, in liaison with central Government, is leading on key issues such as safe-guarding, house and people checks, access to finances, social services, schooling, homelessness, universal credit and essential services.
