Sponsor a Lamp Post Banner for Congleton’s 750th Anniversary

This year promises to be an exciting one for Congleton.  It is the 750th anniversary of the town getting its first Charter and becoming a Market Town. The Town Council is working with many community organisations on events and projects throughout the year so that everyone living and working in Congleton can be part of a year-long celebration of our town’s history. Businesses will have the opportunity to become part of this by sponsoring a heraldic banner(s) that will be placed along Mountbatten Way and West Street roundabout area.

The banners will be 2m long, double-sided and will hang from brackets on the lamp posts. If you would like your business to be represented on a banner all you will need to do is send us a copy of your logo, company name and company logo and fill in the attached form (below) agreeing that you want to be included and are willing to pay £250 plus vat to cover the costs (we will invoice you). The Town Council will take care of everything else including the permissions, insurance, printing, installation, maintenance and eventually removal. It is anticipated that the banners will go up in March and remain for the year.  Planning permission has been sought for 28 banners on Mountbatten Way and Market Street and a further 8 on West Street.

Banners will be sold on a first come first served basis with a maximum of two banners per business. Your logo will appear on one (or more) of the banner designs below.

The banners will be allocated to give a balanced mix of designs, but if you have a preference for ‘your’ flag we will try to accommodate you.

As a local business with a strong interest in the town you may also be interested in being a sponsor of other activities taking place during this important year for Congleton. For an additional £250 you can become an event sponsor. This will give you a name check on printed publicity produced for 750 events being organised by the Town Council and on the web pages associated with the events. Town Council organised events include:

  • A Town Centre entertainment programme April – October
  • A community-wide competition for an Ale Taster
  • A Beating of the Bounds 750 community walk – April
  • A week-long Schools/public medieval exhibition living history event in the Town Hall – July
  • A Medieval Festival Day in the Park in August with jousters and other medieval entertainment.
  • Medieval Banquet in the Town Hall in September

Many other groups and organisations are also putting on 750 related events to build a great year for our residents.

If you have ideas about other ways that your business would like to get involved in Congleton’s 750th anniversary, or if you would like to use the branding for this year, please get in contact.  We would be pleased to hear from you.
