North West in Bloom

The North West in Bloom judges will be coming to Congleton on Tuesday 22 July – and now the Town Council and the In Bloom Team are looking for your help on Monday night to help the town retain its North West in Bloom Winners title.

Over the past 10 months local groups, organisations and schools have been working hard to improve areas around Congleton. The Tourist Information Centre based in the Town Hall has received numerous compliments from visitors and residents about the flowers and displays around the town.

Now the group is calling on local residents to help with a final push on Monday 21 July, the night before the judging, to make sure that the town is looking its best for the judges on the 22 July. Please meet at the Community Gardens in Lawton Street at 6pm. Tasks may include litter picking, weeding, wiping down surfaces.

Cllr David Brown, who chairs the group said; “Congleton is looking really great this year. More shops have taken hanging baskets, more businesses have got involved, the flowers are fabulous and our Town Park is stunning. There have been lots of improvements around the town and there’s almost too much to show the judges! Now we are looking for some extra help on Monday evening for a final Town Tidy to make sure that Congleton is looking its best.”

Congleton won North West in Bloom in 2013, and has achieved gold status for the past three years. Congleton is representing the North West in the Britain in Bloom competition and the Britain in Bloom judges will visit Congleton on Wednesday 6th August.
