Free Parking in Congleton

Free Parking in Congleton on Saturday 17 December

Shoppers in Congleton on Saturday 17th December will be able to take more time to browse in the shops and enjoy the classic cars in the town centre thanks to a free parking offer made by Cheshire East Council.

The Borough Council has informed towns that they can have four days of free parking in certain car parks at days to suit the town, between the 1st December 2016 and 1st December 2017. Congleton has opted to use one of its days on Saturday 17th December, and bank the other three days to use with activities during the summer or school holidays. These dates will be discussed with the traders.

For Congleton the car parks included are the Fairground Car Park near the library, Princess Street Car Park near the Market and Back Park Street Car Park behind Lawton Street. The free offer starts from 10am to try and ensure that the car parks are available for shoppers.

Town Centre Manager, Jackie MacArthur said: “We welcome any initiative which will help to encourage more people to stay longer shopping or socialising in Congleton. We have some great shops with some different and unusual gifts as well as more traditional presents.   Beartown Classic Cars will be in town with Santa that day collecting for the Donna Louise Trust and New Life Church will be singing carols near Argos from 11am – 12 noon. We want people to feel that they have time to enjoy the shops, cars and carols in Congleton this Saturday.”
