Free Easter activities for Congleton children eligible for free school meals

Cheshire East Council is offering a programme of free and healthy activities for vulnerable children and young people across Cheshire East during the Easter holidays.

Congleton children who are eligible for income related free school meals can take part in a whole host of exciting activities being offered locally by Congleton education Community Partnership (CeCP) and Congleton Children’s Centre. Who were successful in receiving grant funding as part of the government’s Holiday Activity Fund.

Congleton education Community Partnership (CeCP)

The partnership comprises of 13 primary schools and 2 secondary schools in Congleton. The project will offer disadvantaged children and young people the chance to get active and have fun in a safe space, whilst taking part in a host of physical and enrichment activities whilst learning more about a healthy and active lifestyle. The activities will include health & nutrition, dance & performance, inclusive sport (such as boccia, new age kurling, blind football etc) and athletics.

The clubs will run over 6 venues, two secondary schools and four primary schools in Congleton. They will run from 12th – 15th April from 10-2pm.

Congleton Children’s Centre – Congleton Park

Tuesday 6th April – 9.30am – 11am – Every Bunny Dance – Let’s celebrate Easter with an Easter egg hunt. We will make bunny ears, then compete in some races. Which bunny will hop to the finish? Rhyme time and then ‘Every bunny dance’ story to finish.

Thursday 8th April – 1pm – 2.30pm We’re going on a bear hunt – Bring your teddies for a snack in the park. Join in with exciting crafts, then get physical with a ‘bear boot camp’ going under, over and end with scoring a goal. To finish a story and rhymes.

Tuesday 13th April – 1pm – 2.30pm Shark in the Park – What shapes can you see all around? What shapes can you make with your body? A star, rectangle, Circle? You try!! Then let’s go for a hunt for colours and shapes with your very own hand made telescope. We will finish with parachute play and rhymes.

Thursday 15th April – 9.30am – 11am – Growing – Why not join us for some planting fun and grow your very own sunflower! Let’s be seeds and use our bodies to move to the music as we grow. We will finish off with some games and then a story ‘Jasper’s beanstalk’.
