Coronation windows fit for a King

The Town Council’s Coronation Window Dressing Competition attracted entries from 18 businesses in the town centre. Town was awash with red, white and blue with the magnificent royal windows spreading the Coronation vibe amongst shoppers.

A number of windows caught the judges eye, but after some debate Timothy A Brown Estate Agents was declared first place for its fun and creative display, featuring a cardboard cut out of King Charles III. Second place went to Oxfam, the mannequins stood out dressed in their splendid royal finery. Third place was crowned to Chris Hamriding Estate Agents.

The winners were presented with certificates and a share of the £60 cash prize pot. The windows were judged for impact, creativity and effort by four independent judges and the scores tallied to find the winners.

Congleton Town Mayor, Cllr Margaret Gartside said: “We would like to thank all the traders that entered the competition. The shops worked really hard to create the fabulous displays, which made the town look and feel really special for the historic occasion.”

In addition to the three winners the judges awarded Highly Commended to Barley Hops, Butters John Bee, Cancer Research, Card Factory, Gather, Pupcups, and Stephenson Browne.
