Congleton’s Triathlon

Sunday 23rd April 2017 has been “reclaimed for sport” for Congleton’s 1st St. George’s Day Triathlon event in Congleton Park. The aim is to raise money for the Town Mayor’s chosen charity- East Cheshire Hospice, as well as improving personal fitness and the feel good factor for entrants.

The triathlon consists of a 500m swim, followed by a 10km cycle, finishing with a 5km run. It is being led by Town Mayor Cllr David Brown, who until a few weeks ago didn’t own a useable bike or pair of trainers!

Local people are encouraged to come to the park to support the event and cheer on the competitors. The fun starts at 1.30pm. Spectators are asked to wear red and white or Shakespearean costume (to celebrate the Bard’s birthday) and there will be prizes for the best costumes. Local band Salt Rox will be playing in the bandstand and it promises to be a great afternoon.
