Congleton’s Annual Town Meeting 2019

More than 100 people attended this year’s Annual Town Meeting in Congleton Town Hall on Thursday 16th May, a significant increase on the attendances in 2017 and 2018 numbers.

Those attending were able to hear short presentations and ask questions to people leading projects on the Congleton Cenotaph, Congleton Neighbourhood Plan, Working Towards a Dementia Friendly Congleton, raising the profile of Elizabeth Wolstenholme Elmy and the Congleton Link Road.

The presentations were followed by 30 minutes of open question time where a wide range of subjects including Congleton Market, Congleton Pride, Congleton Hydro Scheme, lack of any change from Scarborough Development, Bradshaw House and Gladman’s recent consultation for a development off Waggs Road were all raised. Councillors recently elected to serve on the Town Council from 2019-2023, who were present in the audience, were asked to stand and introduce themselves at the end of the meeting.

Chief Officer David McGifford said: “I would like to thank everyone who took the time to attend the annual meeting.  There was a good exchange of information and questions, and a lot of passion in the room and desire to improve Congleton.”
