Britain in Bloom Judges

The Britain in Bloom judges will be coming to Congleton on Wednesday 6 August – and now the Town Council and the In Bloom Team are looking for your help on the Tuesday night to help the town retain its North West in Bloom Winners title.

Over the past 10 months local groups, organisations and schools have been working hard to improve areas around Congleton. The Tourist Information Centre based in the Town Hall has received numerous compliments from visitors and residents about the flowers and displays around the town.
Now the group is calling on local residents to help with a final push on Tuesday 5th August the night before the judging, to make sure that the town is looking its best for the judges.  Please meet at the Community Gardens in Lawton Street at 6pm. Tasks may include litter picking, weeding, wiping down surfaces.

Cllr David Brown, who chairs the group said; “Congleton is looking great this year. More shops have taken hanging baskets, more businesses have got involved, the flowers are fabulous and our Town Park is stunning. There have been lots of improvements around the town and there’s almost too much to show the judges! Ahead of the judges visit we would like local people to help us on a final town tidy to make sure the town is looking its best. We were delighted with the turnout the night before the North West in Bloom judges – when 34 people helped us get the town ready – including lots of young people on National Citizenship Service. Their efforts the night before really did make a difference and we believe the North West in Bloom judges were impressed – although we won’t get the results until October.

Congleton won North West in Bloom in 2013, and has achieved gold status for the past three years. Congleton is representing the North West in the Britain in Bloom competition and the Britain in Bloom judges will visit Congleton on Wednesday 6th August.
