Congleton Town Council and others are well along the path of producing a Congleton Neighbourhood Plan. Work began early in 2014. It has been a very complicated process involving a number of working groups coordinated through a steering group. Neighbourhoods are being encouraged to develop a plan for their community by Government and were given powers in the Localism Act 2011. The polices in our plan will need to have respect for national and local planning policies. For example, we have to accept that the town must allow the building of x number of houses between now and 2030, but in the Neighbourhood Plan we can influence the type, style and location of those houses.
An initial questionnaire was completed by over 1400 people in summer 2015. Consultation on a more detailed questionnaire took place from 18 December to 25 January 2016. Full details of the groups, their minutes, their evidence library and general updates on the Neighbourhood Plan and results of the consultations can be seen at mycongleton.org
