Cheshire East Council is proposing a new 3.5-mile road for Congleton.
This is because Congleton experiences heavy congestion, particularly at peak times. This has hampered town centre regeneration, reduced inward investment and also made it difficult to retain existing business.
The Congleton Link Road would join the A534 Sandbach Road (to the west of Congleton) with the A536 Macclesfield Road (to the north of the town).
As Congleton’s population grows, the problems will worsen. Now, we have a real opportunity to make a positive change for the town – but before a planning application is submitted for the new road, the Council was keen to hear your views to ensure it delivers the best possible solution for the people of Congleton.
A planning application for the link road was submitted on 30 September 2015.
Updates are issued on a regular basis on the Cheshire East Website.
