Tennis is very popular in the town and Congleton Lawn Tennis Club, formed in 1890 is one of the oldest in the county. There are six all weather courts plus three artificial grass courts. The club has around 150 senior members and over 200 junior members and is one of the largest tennis clubs in the area. The club has a professional coach and private lessons are available.
