The North West is home to some world class football teams  - and football is big in the town!  Congleton Town Football Club (The Bears), was formed in 1901 and currently competes in the First Division of the North-West Counties League. The club runs a Youth Team and also a “Junior Bears” section which provides football and fun for four to thirteen year olds. Contact the club on 01260 274460.

Amateur and youth football is also well catered for by with a number of local leagues. Vale Juniors, (01260 224536) founded in 1983, field an astonishing 11 football teams ranging from the under 7’s to the under 16’s.They are very active and successful in the Mid-Cheshire League and have 230 youngsters playing regularly at the Back Lane Playing Fields. From 2007 the club has been developing a girls section and at present operate two squads under 10's and under 12's. They are looking to increase to 3 squads for the 2009/2010 season.
