Congleton Town Council Youth Committee was formed in July 2008. The Youth Committee consist's of 12 youth councillors who are elected by pupils from both High Schools in Congleton. Pupils from both schools may elect a maximum of 4 councillors each and a minimum of 2 councillors may be elected through other youth organisations in the town. Prospective Youth Councillors must be aged 13 - 20 and live in Congleton or attend either Congleton High or Eaton Bank School. The Youth Committee is a non-party political organisation working on behalf of the young people of Congleton, it is not a formal committee of the Council, but is designed to mirror as closely as possible the workings of the formal committees. Elections will be held every October, Youth councillors can choose to serve for a maximum of 4 years before standing for re-election.
