Congleton in Transition – Have your say

The country may be in recession, but Congleton is planning for the future, that’s the key message in ‘Congleton in Transition’ a new strategy document highlighting objectives and actions for the future development of the town.

The 60-page document, commissioned by Congleton Town Council and the Congleton Partnership, has been written by the consultants responsible for producing Congleton’s Town Centre Plan in 2008. Now the Partnership and the Town are keen to gather the views of other interested groups and individuals before the report is discussed at the Town Plan Working Group on February 17th.

The report can be downloaded by clicking here .

Evidence for the report has been gathered from local, county and national databases, interviews with key businesses, landowners and national and local property agents, and consultations with key local businesses and public and voluntary groups.

The report aims to answer the question ‘what is the future role of Congleton’ and seeks to find a solution that benefits the town while also being realistic within the wider East Cheshire and North West regional strategies.

Key to ‘Congleton in Transition’ is the 21 Actions that will help address the issues that are currently preventing Congleton from fulfilling its potential as an enterprise hub. These actions include:

  1. Develop new employment land policies
  2. Ensure a ladder of genuinely available and suitable employment land and premises
  3. Rationalise and improve the Radnor Park Estate
