Every year, in May, the Town Councillors elect one of the Councillors to become Town Mayor for the year. The Town Mayor is usually Deputy Town Mayor in the previous year.
The Town Mayor raises funds for a local charity or charities of their choice. They also Chair the Council meeting, host a Civic Parade in June and a Mayor' ball in March. The Mayor attends many functions on behalf of the people of Congleton. These range from opening garden parties, to school visits, attending functions in neighbouring towns to helping switch on the Christmas Lights.
If you would like to invite the Town Mayor to attend one of your functions please contact Linda Minshull on lm@congletontowncouncil.co.uk or phone 01260 270350.
The current Mayor is Councillor David Brown and Miss Jane Brown is his Mayoress. This year Councillor Brown is raising funds for the young people of Congleton and Cheshire East Hospice.
The Deputy Mayor is Councillor David Martin, his Deputy Mayoress is Mrs Eleanor Martin.
