Much Wenlock to Congleton Relay

Plans are well underway for an historic relay between Much Wenlock in Shropshire - home of the modern Olympics - to Congleton.

The run will take place on Monday 2 January when a team of 16 runners from Congleton will run the 60 miles between the two towns. The run will begin at 7.30am in Much Wenlock with Ann Packer - (a resident of Congleton and the Britian's first female Olympic track gold medalist) and Mayor of Much Wenlock, Cllr Lesely Durbin starting the run at Holy Trinity Church in Much Wenlock. Over the next eight hours the runners will make their way to Congleton in Cheshire, carrying a message of goodwill from the Mayor of Much Wenlock and Lord Sebastian Coe  - wishing the town well with its 2012 plans for the town.
